The 16th European Coating Symposium took place in A Coruña from September 16th to
September 18th 2025 at the University of A Coruña.

The 2025 European Coating Symposium (ECS) marked a special milestone, the 30th anniversary of this renowned meeting that has, since 1995, brought together researchers from academia and industry to advance innovation in liquid film coating.
For the first time, ECS took place in Southern Europe, jointly hosted by the University of A Coruña in Galicia and the University Carlos III in Madrid. The historic Rectorate of the University of A Coruña provided a beautiful and inspiring setting for a symposium that combined academic excellence, industrial insight, and vibrant exchange.
Over the course of the event, participants explored a wide range of topics, from coating fundamentals to novel applications in fields such as cosmetics, biomedical engineering, and energy. The program featured keynote lectures, oral and poster presentations, and a lively commercial exhibition, all fostering valuable discussions and new collaborations.
Beyond the scientific program, attendees enjoyed the charm of A Coruña, its stunning Atlantic coastline, rich history, and renowned Galician cuisine, and many took the opportunity to visit nearby Santiago de Compostela, the legendary destination of Europes famous pilgrimage route.
