It will be chaired by Prof. L. Laurent (University of Paris) and Prof. L. Pauchard (CNRS, Paris).

September 11th, 2019 Heidelberg:

Poster Award goes to Karlsruhe

The first-place prize, awarded by the ECS and the GVT/DECHEMA, went to the research theme from Julian Klemence, a PhD student in the PoLiS cluster at the TFT-TVT research group. The big challenge around the production of Lithium-Ion-Batteries (LIB) is the critically lower availability of raw materials like Lithium. In the "Post Lithium Storage Cluster of Excellence" (PoLiS) are lasting and renewable, but also high capacity and reliable, energy storage systems researched.

The first results of the work titled "Sodium Ion Batteries (SIB)" were presented and compared with Lithium-Ion-Batteries. This work was conducted at the Center for Electrochemical Energy Storage Ulm & Karlsruhe (CELEST). The second place was awarded to a Korean group

ECS President Election

The new directors of the Society are:

ECS President: Peter Schweizer (Switzerland) from industry
ECS Vice President: Wilhelm Schabel (Germany) from academia

According to the "Terms of references" (ToR) of the established "European Coating Society"
The first ECS elections took place:
The ECS Scientific Committee nominated and the former "ECS Steering Committee" voted for the new European Coating Society directorship.
We thank the Board for putting their trust in Dr. Schweizer and Prof. Schabel.
The new Vice President will also organize this year's Symposium in Heidelberg, Germany along with Dr.-Ing. Philip Scharfer.
In like manner we congratulate our newly elected directors of the European Coating Society.
